Disregard my links as well, cause you have already done your research. Make sure that the machines Spyware/Malware free, as suggested above. Might even go as far as to uninstall SP2/reboot and reinstall that as well. Last but not least.
Try running through SFC. Startruncmd.exe sfc /purgecache sfc /scannow You WILL need the XP CD for this to complete. I believe i may have solved my own problem. Here is how i did it. After looking at the end of that svcpack.log file i noticed that it was erroring after encountering some part of the.NET framework that was causing the problem. A friend of mine told me to try and remove the.net framework with the cleanup tool from this site. I downloaded it and removed all versions of the.Net Framework, and rebooted the computer.
I then connected to Windows update to Download and reinstall SP3. Installation completed without error.woot. Now I just have to reinstall.Net Framework and IE 7 and 8 and everything will be back to normal. I don't know if i should award points since it was not a solution on here.
